HUSKIES ON THE RUN FALL 2026

Calling all Huskies! Come join us on Friday mornings at the Highcroft track for a little exercise and a lot of fun with Huskies on the Run.

When are the runs?

This fall we will meet on the following Fridays:

  • September 18
  • September 25
  • October 2
  • October 9
  • October 16
  • October 23
  • November 6
  • November 13

Note: Huskies on the Run will take a pause in the late fall and winter, but will return in spring 2027!

How does it work?

Students report to the track and pick up their QR cards no earlier than 8 AM. Warm ups will start shortly before 8:15. After completing each lap, students scan their cards to keep track of their lap totals. When the bell rings at 8:45, students return their cards and report to classrooms. Cumulative lap totals are recorded across the runs. For each 15 laps a student completes they will receive a “toe token” charm, delivered to their classrooms.

How Do I Register My Husky?

Huskies on the Run is sponsored and managed by Highcroft PTA.There is NO COST to join in the fun, but you must be a 2026-27 PTA member to sign up your child.

  1. If you’re not already a member of the PTA, you can sign up here.
  2. Once you’re an active PTA member, complete the information form to register for Huskies on the Run.
  3. We will accept registrations on a rolling basis. However, please register by September 14th to ensure your student has a QR card for the first run.

What are the rules?

  • Each student must be escorted to the track by a guardian for check in.

  • Students can walk or run, but must keep moving the entire time.

  • During the run, students may not:

    • leave the track area

    • enter the building

    • use the playground equipment

  • All participants must have a completed registration on file and a Certificate of Accident Insurance. (This is a part of the online registration.)

Parent Volunteers

  • Huskies on the Run relies heavily on our parent/guardian volunteers. The jobs are easy - handing out QR cards, scanning them after students complete laps, and cheering on the runners at the corners of the track. If you will be at a run, please consider volunteering while there! We cannot hold the runs without volunteers!

  • Volunteer opportunities are sent out via email using an online signup sheet. If you have any questions about the volunteer positions, do not hesitate to reach out!

What else should I know?

  • In the event of inclement weather, a mass email will be sent by 7:30 AM.

  • If your child attends YMCA in the morning, they can still participate in HotR. The YMCA will bring them to us at the appropriate time.

  • If you have questions, reach out to Beth Schwarz and Courtney Plumley at huskiesontherun@highcroftpta.com.

Parent/Guardian Agreement

I understand that my child will be participating in 30 minutes of self-paced physical activity. They should arrive prepared with sensible footwear and a water bottle. Students are expected to monitor their own physical behavior. If a student is disruptive, they will not be invited to return. I will escort my student to the track no earlier than 8 AM. There is no supervision before then.
